Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

New Wine - 01/01/2008

And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does, the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins.
Luke 5.37-38

This cup of wine which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.
Luke 22.20

"Behold, I make all things new."
Jesus Christ, Revelation 21.5

In ancient times, wine was stored in wine skins rather than jars or bottles. When a new vintage of wine was made, it was necessary to pour it into new wine skins, not old ones. This allowed the wine to ferment and expand. If new wine was poured into an old, stretched-out wine skin, the skin would not allow for expansion and would therefore burst, ruining the wine and the skin.
This imagery from the Gospel of Luke shows us that in order to receive the new life offered by Jesus Christ, we must allow Him to make the wine skin of our spirit new so that we can receive His new wine which represents the new life He has prepared for us. When He makes us new, the ever expanding life and faith that Christ places within us has room to grow. If we persist in attempting to embrace this new life all on our own, we will fail and suffer the consequences because we have not allowed our spirit to be made new. Only Christ can make all things new.
If you are ready for Christ to transform you into a new person so that you can receive His new life and grow in His Spirit, read the following verses and say the prayer at the end. We are praying for you and rejoicing with you!

John 3.16-17

For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God did not send His Son into the world to judge the world, but so that through Him the world might be saved.

Romans 3.23

For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

Romans 6.23

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I John 1.9

If we confess our sins He is faithful and just and will forgive us of all unrighteousness.

Romans 10.13

For whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Revelation 3.20

Behold I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him and he with Me.

John 1.12

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.

II Corinthians 5.17

Therefore if anyone is in Christ they have become a new creation; the old things have passed away, behold all things have become new.

Luke 15.10

In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.

Prayer of Committment

If you would like to ask Jesus into your life, to be your Savior and Lord, pray this prayer with a sincere heart.

Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner and that I need You to forgive me and deliver me from the guilt and power of sin. I put my trust and my life in Your hands. As You give me strength, I will be a witness to the Truth of Your salvation, I will serve You, and fellowship with other believers. I surrender myself to You and Your will for my life. Come into my life and make me Yours. I confess that You are my God, my Savior and my Lord. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.

The Apostle's Creed (2nd C. A.D.)
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic (universal) church; the communion of the saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
